The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (Data Science) organised an industrial visit to NetApp, Bengaluru, on 27th August 2026 for seventh-semester students. The visit provided valuable exposure to industry practices, advanced technologies, and real-world applications of data science and cloud computing. Students gained insights into NetApp’s innovation ecosystem, engineering culture, and enterprise technology solutions.
Technical experts introduced emerging areas such as AI/ML infrastructure, cloud-native technologies, Kubernetes, intelligent infrastructure, and cybersecurity. The sessions highlighted the importance of securing AI and LLM workloads using modern enterprise security frameworks. Students also learned about Dynamic Resource Allocation (DRA), Multi-Instance GPUs (MIG), GPU time-slicing, and scalable AI workload management. The visit provided an understanding of how cloud and AI technologies are deployed in large-scale enterprise environments.
An engaging interaction with research professionals offered insights into innovation, experimentation, and collaborative technology development. Students were exposed to research methodologies and emerging applications of intelligent computing across various sectors. A hands-on Capture The Flag (CTF) competition based on KubeArmor enabled participants to tackle real-world cybersecurity challenges involving prompt injection, agent workflow exploitation, and hidden APIs. The activity strengthened students’ problem-solving abilities and practical understanding of securing cloud-native and AI-driven systems.
Overall, the visit successfully bridged the gap between academic learning and industry practice while motivating students to pursue advanced skills, higher studies, and careers in emerging technology domains.
