Guest Talk on Graduator to Innovator: Leveraging AI and LLMs in Your Career Journey

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (Data Science) organised a guest talk titled “From Graduator to Innovator: Leveraging AI and LLMs in Your Career Journey” on
5th November 2025 for third-semester students. The session was delivered by Mr Rahul Rao, Software Engineer III at Refyne India, who specialises in developing fintech solutions for India’s workforce. Mr Rao shared practical insights on overcoming challenges in the tech industry and emphasised the importance of time management for software engineers.

The talk provided a comprehensive overview of Artificial Intelligence and its growing impact on the IT sector. It began with an introduction to AI concepts and real-world applications, followed by discussions on popular AI tools such as ChatGPT, Google Bard, TensorFlow, IBM Watson, and Microsoft Azure AI. These tools were highlighted for their roles in automation, data analysis, and intelligent application development.

The speaker explained key AI subfields, including Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision, Robotics, Generative AI, and Agentic AI. He elaborated on how Generative AI tools like ChatGPT and DALL·E create new content and how Agentic AI enables autonomous decision-making. The advantages of AI discussed included improved efficiency, automation of repetitive tasks, enhanced decision-making, and new career opportunities. Limitations such as high costs, data dependency, job displacement, lack of emotional intelligence, and ethical concerns were also addressed.

The session emphasised the transformative role of Large Language Models in automating tasks and driving innovation across industries. Mr Rao encouraged students to adopt continuous learning habits and resilience to thrive in a rapidly evolving tech landscape. He stressed that understanding AI tools and concepts is essential for future career growth.

The interactive Q&A session focused on practical solutions for challenges faced in software start-ups. Students gained actionable strategies for time management and adaptability in dynamic work environments. Overall, the talk inspired participants to leverage AI and LLMs effectively in their career journey.
