TEDx Talk -The Rise of Artificial Intelligence through Deep Learning

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (Data Science) organized a TEDx Talk titled “The Rise of Artificial Intelligence through Deep Learning” on 27 February 2026. The session was delivered by Mr. Yoshua Bengio, a globally renowned researcher and pioneer in deep learning. He began the talk by explaining how Artificial Intelligence enables machines to learn from large datasets and perform tasks that mimic human intelligence.

The speaker highlighted the shift from traditional programming to data‑driven models where systems automatically learn patterns. Students were introduced to the fundamentals of deep learning and how multi‑layered neural networks process complex data such as images, speech, and text. Mr. Bengio illustrated how deep learning has transformed key technologies like image recognition, language translation, speech processing, and recommendation systems. The talk also explored industry applications across healthcare, autonomous vehicles, finance, cybersecurity, and natural language processing.

He emphasized that AI systems can now analyze massive datasets to uncover patterns that enhance automation and decision‑making. The future potential of AI was discussed along with challenges such as fairness, explainability, data privacy, and ethical deployment. The speaker stressed the importance of responsible AI development that benefits society. Students were encouraged to build strong foundations in neural networks, machine learning, and AI research. The session concluded with an interactive Q&A, motivating learners to explore innovative AI‑driven solutions for real‑world problems.
