On 29th October 2026, the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (Data Science) at New Horizon College of Engineering organized an engaging technical workshop titled “Jenkins for Beginners – Automating Software Builds and Deployments” for its 5th-semester students.
The session was conducted by Mr. Abhijith Saralaya, Founder and Director of SMAG-J Enterprises. Drawing from his extensive experience in conducting technology workshops, student training programs, career guidance, and faculty development initiatives across various engineering institutions, the resource person introduced students to the core concepts of build automation and deployment processes.
The primary focus of the workshop was to introduce students to the fundamentals of Jenkins and its crucial role in modern DevOps workflows. The speaker provided step-by-step, hands-on guidance to help participants install and configure Jenkins from scratch.
Through practical demonstrations, students learned how to set up a Maven project and execute automated deployments using Jenkins. The interactive session helped students understand the real-world significance of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines in contemporary software development life cycles.
Beyond the technical implementation, Mr. Saralaya shared valuable career insights into current IT industry requirements and the skill sets expected from aspiring software engineers. He guided students on strategies to upgrade their technical capabilities, build hands-on project experience, explore emerging tools, and continuously adapt to industry shifts to enhance their career prospects.
Overall, the workshop successfully bridged the gap between academic learning and practical industry expectations. By providing direct exposure to industry-standard tools and practices, the session effectively enhanced the students’ technical competencies and prepared them for real-world software development roles.
