Workshop on SQL in retail Analytics- deep Drive Topics
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (Data Science) organised a Data Analytics Workshop on 24 April 2026 to provide students with practical exposure to industry-relevant concepts. The session was conducted by Mr Jagadeesh Pondara, Senior Business Analyst at ZDA Corporation, who shared valuable insights into real-world data analytics applications.
The workshop aimed to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry expectations. It primarily focused on SQL for Retail Analytics and the role of data in driving business decisions. Students were introduced to fundamental concepts such as data handling, SQL querying, and understanding datasets within a business context.
The speaker explained how organisations utilise data to analyse customer behaviour and optimise business performance. Real-world examples and case studies enabled students to connect theoretical knowledge with practical scenarios effectively.
The session was highly interactive, encouraging students to participate actively and clarify their doubts. The hands-on approach provided clarity on the typical workflow followed by data analysts in the industry. Emphasis was also placed on problem-solving, logical thinking, and data interpretation skills.
A key highlight of the workshop was the discussion on industry expectations and the roadmap to becoming a data analyst. Overall, the session proved to be an informative and motivating experience, enhancing students’ understanding of data analytics and the career opportunities it offers.
