Introduction
We feel proud to have the IEEE Biometrics Council (IEEE BIO), which is one of the fastest progressing and promising technical societies of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). The Department of Computer Science & Engineering (Data Science) of New Horizon College of Engineering, Bengaluru initiated and actively started IEEE Biometrics Council NHCE Student Branch Chapter on 15.04.2026.
Objectives
The IEEE Biometrics Council (BIO) is a professional organization dedicated to advancing the science and technology of biometrics. Biometrics refers to the automated recognition of individuals based on their physiological or behavioral characteristics, such as fingerprints, facial features, iris patterns, voice, and gait.
The IEEE Biometrics Council aims to promote research, development, and education in biometrics, as well as to provide a forum for the exchange of information among professionals from academia, industry, and government agencies. The council is a part of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the world’s largest technical professional organization for the advancement of technology.
The IEEE Biometrics Council SBC focus on biometrics, the IEEE Biometrics Council SBC plays a critical role in driving innovation and enabling the widespread adoption of biometric technologies in various applications, including law enforcement, border control, banking, healthcare, and access control.
- Initiate Industrial lecture talks
- Invite Professors of excellence for sharing experiences and research results
- Industrial tours to companies in close vicinity
- Brainstorming session on “Entrepreneurship and Academia”.
- Workshop, Symposium, Project Design Contest to the students
- Promotes the engineering process of creating, developing, integrating, sharing, and applying knowledge about electro- and information technologies and sciences for the benefit of humanity and the profession
