Workshop on Data Analytics and Visualization: Transforming Data into Insights
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (Data Science) organised a workshop titled “Data Analytics and Visualisation: Transforming Data into Insights” on 12 March 2026 at Falconry Hall. The session was conducted by Mr Anand Jha, Lead Technical Engineer at Tiger Analytics, who brought extensive industry experience in analytics and business intelligence.
The workshop began with an introduction to the growing significance of data analytics in the digital era and its role in driving informed decision-making across industries. Mr Jha explained how organisations generate massive volumes of data daily and rely on analytical techniques to convert this data into meaningful insights. He elaborated on core concepts such as data collection, cleaning, processing, and interpretation, stressing the importance of data accuracy and reliability.
A key highlight was the session on data visualisation, where the speaker demonstrated how charts, dashboards, and interactive visuals simplify complex datasets. He discussed modern visualisation tools used in industry and explained how effective visuals improve communication between technical teams and business stakeholders. Students learned how selecting appropriate visualisation methods enhances clarity and supports better insight generation.
Real-world applications of analytics in Finance, Healthcare, Retail, Marketing, and
E-Commerce were presented to illustrate practical industry relevance. Mr. Jha also emphasised the rapidly growing demand for skilled professionals in Data Science, Analytics, and Machine Learning. He encouraged students to strengthen their analytical thinking, programming abilities, and tool proficiency to prepare for emerging career opportunities.
The session additionally addressed challenges such as handling large datasets, ensuring data privacy, and maintaining data integrity. Ethical data usage and responsible management practices were underscored as essential components of modern analytics. Students actively participated through questions and discussions, gaining a deeper understanding of real-world analytical workflows.
Overall, the workshop offered valuable insights into transforming raw data into actionable knowledge and motivated students to explore advanced learning paths in data analytics and visualisation.
